Premature Primavera
Purple Azure Winged Woman emerged on the very last day of winter - a harbinger of springtime and some warmer weather (at least let us hope so.)

Newly Hatched
Although butterflies typically hatch in spring, this example of recently discovered hybrid subspecies Macleay's Swallowtail Winged Woman has just emerged from her chrysalis cocoon, boldly defying the current Melbourne cold spell.

More Exquisite Palettes
I was thrilled (and also humbled, given the extremely high standard of this year's entries) to learn that my palette (see Blog Entry below) has just been awarded the 'The Most Exquisite Palette Prize'. Pictured above are just some of over 200 extraordinarily diverse artists' palettes that make up this year's show. Despite my best photographic efforts, these shots simply don't do them justice. If you are in the area, do call in and have a look for yourself. The address and opening hours of St. Luke are also detailed in my previous Blog Entry.
A selection of palettes and a list of participating artists can also be viewed on St. Luke Artists Colourmen Blog.

Warm thanks to Louise, David and everyone at St. Luke for the endless enthusiasm and incredible organisational skills that helped make this the best Exquisite Palette show yet.
